The Gra Shul, an established community operating out of a caravan, urgently needed a new building. To raise the necessary funds, we aimed to foster a deep sense of connection and appreciation within the community for all the shul had done. We began by forming a committee of women, believing that once they were engaged, they would inspire the entire community to get involved. We developed the theme "Reliving the Past, Igniting the Future," with black and yellow as the event colors—black symbolizing the past and yellow representing the bright, igniting future. The entire evening revolved around this theme, and we organized various groups to bring it to life: one designed a display showcasing the shul's history on long boards that attendees could walk between, reliving the past; another group focused on table decor; a third managed the program; and a fourth created a memory book. This approach generated tremendous excitement and involvement from the entire community, leaving participants with a strong sense of pride and connection. This event marked the first stage of a highly successful fundraising campaign, ultimately resulting in the construction of a beautiful new shul.
